2. Purpose of Project and description of anticipated project benefits - Please provide a <br /> narrative description of the purpose of the project and an identification of the benefits that <br /> the project will generate. <br /> Examples of project purposes might include but are not limited to: new storage or <br /> diversion projects; enlargement,rehabilitation,repair,replacement, or efficiency <br /> enhancements of existing projects; water availability investigations or feasibility studies, <br /> or water quality improvement projects. <br /> In identifying project benefits please identify the need for the project, the anticipated <br /> impact of project benefits both in terms of population, acreage, or geographic area,the <br /> current water shortfall, challenge, deficiency, or problem the project seeks to remedy. <br /> For a process description please see the attachment 2 `River Protection Workgroup <br /> Process' <br /> PART C: ENGINEERING AND LEGAL FEASIBILITY. <br /> This request is for assistance with a community process for stakeholders in the Upper San <br /> Juan Basin. There is no construction or legal action attached to this process. The process <br /> will require travel, meting facilities, data collection and facilitation. <br /> 1. Will the Project require the acquisition of additional water right or change of existing <br /> water rights? YES X NO. <br /> If yes,please identify water rights requirements (attach a separate sheet if necessary) <br /> 2. Will the Project require state or federal regulatory permits of any type? _YES <br /> X NO. <br /> If yes please identify permits you believe will be necessary to complete the project and indicate <br /> the status of such permits (e.g. issued, applied for,pending,not yet applied for). (Attach separate <br /> sheets as necessary) <br /> 3. Please list the names, addresses and phone numbers of any engineers or attorneys that you <br /> may have retained for the project. <br /> 2. Does the District staff have your permission to contact your engineers or attorneys <br /> directly to discuss this application? X YES NO. <br /> (This information is sought solely to expedite consideration of applications; answering"no"will <br /> in no way affect the Board's consideration of this application on its merits) <br /> Initial of responsible person. <br /> 5.
