Working Draft—GSFO Recreation Appendix- 3-6-2009 <br /> Bocco Mountain Special Recreation Management Area (SRMA) <br /> (Alternatives B & D) <br /> RMZ Outcome Objective <br /> The outcome objective identifies the specific recreation activities to be emphasized, the outcomes(experiences <br /> and benefits)to be produced/realized as well as the desired customer assessment standard to be monitored <br /> and achieved. <br /> Participants in visitor assessments report an average 4.0 realization of the targeted experience and benefit <br /> outcomes listed below. (4.0 on a probability scale where: 1 = Not at all realized to 5=totally realized). <br /> Activities Experiences Benefits <br /> Personal: <br /> Motorcycle • To experience adventure • Living a more outdoor-oriented lifestyle <br /> Riding and excitement • Improved balance of work and play in my life <br /> • Escaping everyday • Enhance sense of personal freedom <br /> responsibilities for a while • Restored my mind from stress/tension/anxiety <br /> • Enjoying frequent access • Improved outdoor recreation skills <br /> to outdoor physical activity • Developing stronger ties with my family or friends <br /> • For the challenge or sport •Greater awareness of this area as a special place <br /> • To be with others who <br /> enjoy the same things I do Community/Social: <br /> •Lifestyle improvement or maintenance <br /> •Strengthening relationships with family and friends <br /> Environmental: <br /> •Greater community ownership&stewardship of recreation <br /> &natural resources <br /> Proposed Recreation Setting Character Conditions (RSCCs) <br /> RSCCs depict the desired future recreational qualities of the landscape(physical), the qualities associated with <br /> use(social), and the conditions created by management(operational);that influence the kinds of recreation <br /> activities that are offered and recreation outcomes produced/realized. <br /> Proposed Physical RSCCs <br /> Remoteness:OHV routes provide motorized access throughout the RMZ. <br /> Naturalness: More man-made landscape alterations in the form of trails and facilities are seen. New non- <br /> recreational modifications(e.g. ROWs,fences, ponds)are not visually obvious near recreation facilities and <br /> trails: <br /> Visitor Facilities: More facilities(e.g. trailheads, restrooms)are found within the area. <br /> Proposed Social RSCCs <br /> Contacts(avq.): Participants encounter a season average 8-10 encounters/day. <br /> Group Size(avq.): Participants encounter a season average 6-8 people per group. <br /> Evidence of Use: Sounds of other people occasionally heard. A few small localized areas of vegetation <br /> alteration and compacted/bare soils are acceptable. Inappropriate recreation use is rehabilitated. <br /> Proposed Operational RSCCs <br /> Access(types of travel): Motorcycle single-track trail access is maintained throughout the RMZ. <br /> Page I 5 <br />
