DNR COLORADO <br /> CO Colorado Water <br /> .'% Conservation Board <br /> Department of Natural Resources <br /> 1313 Sherman Street, Room 721 <br /> Denver,CO 80203 <br /> Memorandum <br /> To: Tom Browning, Assistant Director {' 5107 6 (f <br /> From: Rebecca Mitchell <br /> Kevin Reidy a Ben Wade <br /> Date: May 21, 2015 <br /> Subject:Water Efficiency Grant Fund Recommendation for the Keystone Center <br /> Recommendation: <br /> The Water Supply Planning staff recommends that Tom Browning, Assistant Director of the CWCB, approve <br /> a Water Efficiency Grant in the amount of$49,500, for Keystone Center to fund Phase 2 of the Colorado <br /> Water a Growth Dialogue Project. <br /> Summary of Grant Application <br /> CWCB staff received a Water Efficiency grant application from the Keystone Center, a 501(c)(3) non-profit <br /> organization requesting$49,500 to continue their efforts in facilitating a series of meetings a advance <br /> dialogue regarding the land use a water nexus. The Keystone Center brings together public and private <br /> stakeholders to discuss differences and work towards sustainable solutions regarding water and other <br /> environmental concerns. <br /> In Phase 2 of the project, the Keystone Center wishes to demonstrate the following: how much water can <br /> be saved through the integration of water a land use planning for homes a neighborhoods that will be <br /> developed and redeveloped in the future; to develop a consensus based set of recommended water <br /> savings strategies for communities into their planning; finally, to develop an implementation plan for the <br /> recommendation that will include water savings while still meeting future needs of the community. <br /> Project partners include Aurora Water, Western Lands a Communities, Gates Family Foundation and the <br /> Walton Family Foundation. Outcomes a findings from this project will aide the CWCB in its statewide <br /> planning efforts. <br /> The total project cost is$135,000. Contributing partners have pledged 63%matching funds in the form of <br /> cash totaling$85,500. CWCB staff has reviewed and evaluated the grant application and has determined <br /> that the proposal meets or exceeds the CWCB guidelines for reviewing grant proposals.
