Summary of Grant Application The Water Supply Planning staff received a Water Efficiency Grant application from the City of Rifle requesting $30,200 to update its current Water Conservation Plan. The City of Rifle is a non-covered entity in the Colorado River Basin and has a Water Conservation Plan (September 2008) on file with the CWCB. Rifle has not delivered over 2,000 AF/year since 2010 as the population has leveled off due to economic conditions. Despite the City no longer being listed as a covered entity, the population is still forecasted to grow in the next five years with a growth rate anticipated to be like their historical annual average of 2.95%. If the updated Plan is fully implemented, the estimated water savings goal for this plan is to the lower.the total water use by 7% or 150 AF over the next two decades. The total cost of the project is $40,420. Rifle is committing 25% matching funds in the form of $1,710 in cash a $8,510 of in-kind services. CWCB staff has reviewed and evaluated the grant application and has determined that the proposal meets or exceeds the CWCB guidelines for reviewing grant proposals.
