Update of Districts' 2009 Operations
2009 Plan of Operations
Due to the below normal water supply forecasts and very low Lake McConaughy carry-
over storage, the Districts will follow a drought mode of operation to maximize the
combined storage in Lake McConaughy and the Sutherland Project.
Non- Irrigation Season
■Releases to maintain Sutherland Reservoir and as necessary for icing conditions
*Irrigation Season
■Releases to meet irrigation demands
XEA Operations
■Began with approximately 85,026 acre -feet
■Will contribute about 37,000 acre -feet (34,250 of through March)
■Contents on April 1 was 110,373 acre -feet
■Spring release and possible release during irrigation season
McConaughy
Actual
Oct -Mar Inflows
356.9 kaf
Oct -Mar Outflows
24.6 kaf
McConaughy end of March
3229.9 Ft. Central's
irrigation customers will be allocated to 8.4 inches per acre compared to a normal
contract of 18 inches per acre.
CREP (Conservation Reserve Enhancement ProLram)
The CREP account accrued a small amount of water in 2008. As per a Memorandum of
Agreement between Central and NDNR this account is given back to Central when Lake
McConaughy reaches 3218.0 or 650,000 acre -feet or storage.
Maintenance
The Districts have no hydro maintenance or outages planned for the remainder of this
water year. The Kingsley hydro has a four month planned outage for this fall after
irrigation season is complete. The Districts plan to complete some dredging work in
Lake Ogallala and replace Keystone Diversion gates during this extended outage..
