Pa e 12
Municipal Use
Currently, Meadow Creek Reservoir is the only reservoir from which water is released for municipal purposes
and this is done so by exchange via the Michigan Ditch. The owner of the water is the City of Fort Collins.
The amount of water released for municipal purposes from this reservoir in the previous water year should be
subtracted from the spring fill storage amount for the current year. Additionally, a proportional amount as to
the ownership of water owned by the City of Fort Collins of the evaporation of the reservoir that occurred
throughout the previous year should also be subtracted. if fall storage occurs in the reservoir and water had
been released for municipal purposes during the current summer, the entire amount of refill should be
accounted toward municipal use up to the amount released for this purpose. Any amount of refill above that
amount released for municipal purposes should be counted toward irrigation use provided water had been
released for this purpose.
Evaporation Off of Reservoirs
Any reservoir for which water was not released in the previous water year yet storage occurred as a result of a
drop in the reservoir level from evaporation, shall be subtracted from the total water stored.
Total Water Stored for Irrigation Purposes
The total water stored for irrigation purposes shall be determined by summing the spring fill for each reservoir
and the fall fill each reservoir and then subtracting the total fills (spring and fall) for livestock and municipal
uses and evaporation.
