In 1917 the name was changed
to the present one.
The Bauer No. 1 dam is one of the dams owned by the
Company. It is an off-stream earth dam, about 25 feet high, with
an 8-foot crest width and a crest length of about 1850 feet. It
is located about five miles away from the Town of Mancos,
Montezuma County. It stores approximately 350 acre-feet of
irrigation water. The water rights owned by the Company appear
to be adequate.
Discussion
On June 6, 1984, the Bauer No. 1 dam was inspected by the
State Engineer ' s office. During the inspection various
conditions were observed which might jeopardize the safety of the
dam. The State Engineer ' s office decided to restrict the water
level in the dam to 5 feet below the spillway crest until
adequate repairs are made. Such restriction severely reduces the
irrigation water available to the Company's shareholders .
206
ai/12a
