COLORADO WATER CONSERVATION BOARD <br /> 823 State Centennial Building <br /> 1313 Sherman Street <br /> Denver, Colorado 80203 <br /> January 30 , 1980 . <br /> R E S O L U T I O N <br /> WHEREAS, the Colorado River Water Conservation District has <br /> prepared and will on January 31, 1980 , file its application with the <br /> Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for a license to construct <br /> and operate the Juniper-Cross Mountain Hydroelectric Project on the <br /> Yampa River in Moffat County, Colorado; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Project as proposed will provide for the storage and <br /> conservation of approximately 1,290 ,000 acre-feet of water for bene- <br /> ficial use in Colorado, directly by exchange, with installed hydro- <br /> electric capacity of 148 ,000 kw and an annual average electrical energy <br /> out of 348.9 megawatt hours , and will further provide for extensive <br /> water related recreational opportunities ; and <br /> WHEREAS, the utilization of water for such purposes is within <br /> entitlements of the State of Colorado to Colorado River water under and <br /> by virtue of the Colorado River Compact of 1922 and the Upper Colorado <br /> River Basin Compact of 1948; and <br /> WHEREAS, the construction and operation of the project would <br /> complement and improve the operation of the coal-fired electrical gen- <br /> eration facilities present and planned for in the area; and <br /> WHEREAS , the studies and analyses performed by the District to <br /> date indicate that the proposed project will be beneficial to Western <br /> Colorado in particular and to the state as a whole; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Water Conservation Board of <br /> the State of Colorado at a meeting thereof held in Denver, Colorado, <br /> on January 30 , 1980 , that it gives its support, pending the outcome of <br /> final studies , to the construction of the Juniper-Cross Mountain Hydro- <br /> electric Project on the Yampa River in Moffat County, Colorado, and <br /> that it urges FERC to expeditiously conduct the licensing process . <br /> C E R T I F I C A T E <br /> I certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of a <br />
