Chatfield Project Channel Improvement
Background
The State, acting through the Colorado Water Conservation
Board , is the nonfederal sponsor of the South Platte
Channelization Project, downstream from Chatfield Reservoir.
In 1979, a $2.5 million authorization was approved in SB 537 for
the purchase of project lands and necessary relocations.
The Corps of Engineers intends to start construction of
phase one of the three phase project on June 1 , 1983 . To meet
that schedule, CWCB must provide title or other assurances by May
1 , 1983 , for that part of the project.
Status
CWCB holds title to five of about 63 parcels. About
eighteen more parcels belong to local governmental units. About
$267,000 of the $2.5 million has been spent on surveying ,
appraisals, and purchases to date. Another $90.0,000 has been
obligated for the relocation of the Englewood water intake
structure. ;
