ARCA Annual Meeting 11
December 14, 1993
to the committee last night. In summary we began the Compact Year with approximately 13,000
acre feet total in storage. That consisted of 11,500 acre feet in the agreement accounts and 1,750
acre feet in the permanent pool. During the period November 1 to April 1, approximately 28,000
acre feet was stored—excuse me—65,000 acre feet was stored. During the summer storage
period, after April 1st about 28,000 acre feet was stored in the reservoir. So that after releases
were made at the close of the Compact Year, and an additional inflow of 8,000 acre feet was
made to the permanent recreation pool, the contents at the end of the Compact Year was 41,275
acre feet. For reference that's approximately 28,000 acre feet more than was in storage in John
Martin at the end of the Compact Year last year.
I believe the Operations Committee has agreed, to a committee meeting last
evening, agreed to accept my report, and so I imagine that will come up later on the agenda.
.12 As far as the next year's concerned, I would report that Mr. Rude, my counterpart
in Kansas, and I have come to an agreement again this year, which is identical to that reached
last year, regarding the procedures and manner of crediting of deliveries of releases made to the
State of Kansas and so we will intend to follow that procedure again this year.
The efforts of the Division of Wildlife last year to replenish the permanent pool in
John Martin Reservoir will likely be renewed again in the coming year. As far as I can see, I
think they have made arrangements to acquire additional waters to put into that space, to inform
the Administration that that's one operation that I anticipate will be occurring the coming year.
Other than that, I would be happy to try to field the questions that ... I have quite
the list out there, Mr. Chairman,(laughter)but I would be happy to try to field any questions you
might have.
.23 CHAIRMAN COOLEY: Thank you very much, Steve. Let me start off with one.
I am not a native of the Valley; don't reside here. I take it that this was a relatively good year for
