e. <br /> In the 1950's, Tri-County dropped out of NPPS, but contracted to sell all of its <br /> generation to NPPS. <br /> On January 1, 1970, Platte Valley, NPPS and Consumers merged to form the <br /> NPPD which serves approximately 750,000 customers in 85 of the State's 93 <br /> counties. <br /> The eastern tier of Nebraska counties is served by OPPD. <br /> The panhandle REA's receive power through the Tri-State G & T of Denver. <br /> The Loup District serves a four-county area around Columbus. <br /> The need for irrigation water by the surface irrigation canals in the Platte Valley <br /> led to Nebraska becoming a total public power state. <br /> NOTES <br /> GG was secretary of PVPP&ID from 1934 to 1937. General Manager <br /> from 1937 to 1965. <br /> Homer Loutzenheiser was General Manager from 1965 to 1970. <br /> George Johnson, R.O. Canady, Tri-County General Manager and <br /> Counsel <br /> R.
