m
32
0
0
G
C7
m
0
but it plaoes a limitation on both states as it now exists.
m
ChAIRMAN KRAMER: Any other diaoussion?
--i
O
MR. IRELAND. Well, I think it goes to this point, as I
understand it, if I can express it properly here: We are
talking about--aren' t we at this time saying that any future m
development in that basin must not materially deplete the
usable quantity or availability for-use so far as present
storage and diversion facilities are oonoerned?
MR. TATE: No.
MR. IRELAND; Well, then, would that mean,--let' s assume
that Kansas might 'develop another 80,000 acres of land for
irrigation and in 87 it is limited or restricted to existing
conditions, Kansas would be in a position, would she not, to
say that so long as she could continue to develop new uses,
they would come first?
MR. TATE: What?
MR. IRELAND: That these new uses of Kansas would come
- first.
MR. TATE: Well, no, how could they? We can' t have any
more water, Gail. We can't have it. It isn't physically
possible. If we did have, it would have to originate below
the dam.
