14 <br /> m <br /> -u <br /> 0 <br /> 0 <br /> 0 <br /> m <br /> 0 <br /> D <br /> the laws of the appropriate state and in conformity <br /> with this compact and under those general principles <br /> which recognize, define and establish the beneficial 0 <br /> consumptive use of waters arising in states lying <br /> 0 <br /> wholly or partly west of the ninety eighth meridian <br /> and providing that use for navigation and power shall �f <br /> not conflict with any beneficial consumptive use, <br /> present or future, in the Arkansas River Basin as <br /> provided in Public Law 534, 78th Congress, 2nd Session, <br /> in Public Law 14, 79th Congress, first session, and in <br /> public Lax 628, 79th Congress, 2d Session, are hereby <br /> adopted and made applicable specifically to the appor- <br /> tionment and use, under this Compact, of the waters <br /> of the Arkansas River and its tributaries between and <br /> by the States of Colorado and tansies.* <br /> CHAIRMAN KRAMER: Does that conclude your report for <br /> the Committee on Legal Affairs? <br /> MR. VIDAL: I think that is what we should give con.. <br /> sideration to now, before proceeding further with the matter. <br /> CHAIRMAN KRAMER: Thank you, Mr. Vidal, for your <br /> presentation of this matter. I would like to supplement your <br /> remarks regarding our session with Judge Stone briefly, be- <br /> cause I feel that at least as far as I am concerned the de- <br /> velopments of that meeting are very significant in guiding us <br /> toward a workable solution to this problem. <br />
