Hellige, Kara A SPK
From: Frey, Heidi [Heidi.Frey©dwr.state.co.usi
Sent: Thursday, July 14, 2005 3:00 PM
To: He!lige, Kara A SPK
Cc: Wolfe, Dick; Beegles, Ken
Subject: Public Notice 200575106
http://www.spk.usace.army.mil/organizations/cespk-co/regulatory/PNs/index.html
Dear Ms. Hellige:
The Colorado Division of Water Resources offers the following comments regarding the
subject public notice. Our comments are based upon the limited information provided in
the notice and are restricted to the potential impacts this development has to water
resources and the protection of other vested water rights.
The applicant intends to improve the recreational and functional habitat characteristics
of a portion of the San Juan River by constructing whitewater drop structures, install
single current deflectors and riffle roughness boulders, and conduct stream bank
stabilization.
Water is available for appropriation on the San Juan River at this point, therefore it
appears that this project will not adversely impact water resources or vested water
rights. To assist in avoiding this potential injury, we recommend that the you consult
with our Division office regarding the locations of the proposed wetlands relative to the
existing wetlands locations. The Division office may be reached at (970) 247-1845.
Please contact me at this office if you have any questions regarding this matter.
Sincerely,
Heidi Frey, P.E.
Water Resources Engineer
Colorado Division of Water Resources
1313 Sherman St., Rm. 818
Denver, CO 80203
(303) 866-3581
1
