Cooperation efforts between
Canon City, Chaffee County, and water providers are recommended so that design flows
are conveyed through Canon City. The Chaffee County RICD water is delivered to the
county line measured at the Wellsville gage. An equivalent amount of water delivered to
Canon City WKRP would provide reasonable recreation experience and a minimum flow
for events that will attract world class kayakers. There are a number of diversions and
inputs between the Wellsville gage and the Canon City gage. Design flows could be
measured at the Canon City gage minus the diversions between the USGS gage
07960000 and the Canon City WKRP.
VI. Reach Length
The distance from the pool of the Flytrap feature to the Nessman feature is 930 feet.
There is a total hydraulic drop within the reach of 7.7 feet. The average hydraulic
gradient is 0.8%at 250cfs. The average widths range between 65-105 feet at 1800cfs.
The site is designed to be navigable for its entire length.
entua 7of16
