Canyon City River Recreation Enhancements PHASE 1 PROPOSAL October 9,2008 Canon City River Recreation Enhancements PHASE 1 PROPOSAL Phase I Implementation Process Task 9 Plans for the Final Design After the desired design approach and environmental criteria has been uncovered, and an alternative has been selected by the City, a final design of the River Recreation Enhancements will be developed. This will be a plan view set of maps that spatially relates hydraulic features, access paths, spectator areas, riparian landscaping, floodplain and other pertinent information. These plans will break the project into construction phases as necessary. The plans will include cost estimates of each construction phase of the project. Task 10 Construction Plans and Specifications We will develop construction plans and specifications for the River Recreation Enhancements Design. These will be detailed plans and specifications on constructing the hydraulic structures, recreation amenities, signage,pathways, view areas and landscaping of the waterways and riparian zone. Included in the Plans will be specifications on best management practices that must be implemented under permit requirements in order to control and mitigate temporary non-point source pollution associated with construction activity. Task 11 Construction Bid Package Preparation We will work with Canon City in preparation of the Construction Bid Package. We will assist the city in contactor selection. We will provide Engineering Design clarifications to the contractor. Phase I Construction Monitoring Task 12 Construction Engineering Services Designers will be onsite to review critical construction phases associated with the River Recreation Enhancements. We will be available to perform survey work and stake out critical design features, as well as monitor the proper installation of features and conformance with plans and specifications. Furthermore, we will be in the field to make contractor clarifications and facilitate field modifications to prevent delays. The City staff will be required to provide stakeholder information and coordination with any citizen groups or entities. City staff will be required to select the alternative of choice to proceed with final design. We will identify lands desired for the project and the City will be responsible for any landowner, easement and/or real-estate issues, including access for survey and construction. City Staff will be required to conduct contracting services related to the construction process. The City Staff may also play a large role in fund raising with our technical support and guidance.
