• Table 3 lists the lease of augmentation well credits. Augmentation well credits are the amounts
of pumped water delivered directly to the river minus the lagged groundwater depletions from
prior pumping of the well for augmentation purposes. For 2006, the lease rate for net
augmentation well credit was $20 per acre-foot. The total 2006 augmentation well lease was
$53,593.
The following descnbes the 2006 grant amount available to LLWU per the September 2004
Grant Guidelines Memo from CWCB. The total LLWU lease payment for augmentation
replacement supplies in 2006 was$312,803 (sum of Tables 1, 2, and 3). The total days of river
call for 2006 is 210.33 days (monthly call days are listed at the top of Table 2). The average
call days in the lower South Platte River were 84 days. The following computes grant amounts
for 2006.
2006
Lease cost of augmentation water $312,803
Number of drought call days 210.33
Average number of call days 84
Call day ratio 210.33/84=2.504
Cost reduction $312,803/2.504=$124,921
Grant amount $312,803-$124,921=
$187,882
110 The Program per the September 2004 Guidelines also provides funds for engineering and
attorney fees equal to 5% of the grant amount. Multiplying 1.05 times $187,882 gives a total
grant amount for reimbursement to LLWU of$197,276.
Please contact me for any further required information or clarifications related to the LLWU
accounting and computed grant amount. NCWCD and I continue to applaud the CWCB and
the State of Colorado for this excellent program of financial assistance to irrigated agriculture
during these times of drought and expanded costs for well augmentation.
•
2
