September 6, 2006
Page Two
To date the project cost has been covered by Aurora and Pueblo. But the most costly portion of the project
has yet to come and we need additional financial partners in this project!
Most of the project cost will occur in the first two years of this six year project. This is when the receiver
site must be constructed, the fen harvester must be built, the transport molds fabricated, the transport sled
built and the actual fen harvesting must take place. The remaining four years will be monitoring the fen
progress at the new site and observations of the events at the old harvest site.
The budget for the project is as follows:
3 Years Cost 3 Years Cost
2007 $337,500 2010 $86,000
2008 $240,500 2011 $92,000
2009 $112,500 2012 $96,000
Right now the project is at a standstill for lack of financial support. We need eight participants that are
willing to pay$60,000 in 2007, $40,000 in 2008 and $20,000 in 2009 through 2012. That is a total cost of
$180,000. Partial participation will be accepted, but you can see what the overall financial needs of the
project are. Each participant will be billed for their yearly financial contribution in December of the year
prior to when it is due.
If one compares the total financial obligation of the project($180,000) to the possible solution to a HUGE
problem that we all face, it is a small price to pay. A solution to one HUGE problem that has hit us all
right square in the face and won't go away.
Please contact Gerry Knapp, City of Aurora, at(719) 254-7984 or Bud O'Hara, Pueblo Board of Water
Works at(719) 584-0236 for additional information, a tour of the project site or to join the project.
Sincerely,
R.L.
