Provide a brief description of your organization below: <br /> The Watershed and Flood Protection Section of the CWCB has evolved over time and expanded its <br /> operations to include watershed protection, flood mitigation, and forest restoration. The Watershed <br /> Restoration Program provides grant funding and technical expertise to partners for multi-objective <br /> plans and projects designed to reduce flood hazards, stabilize and restore stream channels,provide <br /> habitat,reduce erosion,and increase the capacity to utilize water. <br /> Part B.-Description of the Project or Study <br /> 1. Name of the study or project: Colorado Watershed Restoration Program <br /> 2. What is the purpose of this grant application? Check one. <br /> Study <br /> Provide funds for multi-objective studies and projects <br /> Demonstration project. aiding watershed restoration efforts throughout the state. <br /> Rehabilitation or <br /> replacement of existing <br /> Other(Please describe) <br /> 3. General location of the study or demonstration project. (Please include county, and approximate distance <br /> and direction from the nearest town): <br /> Project funds will be used statewide where watershed restoration needs of high priority are identified <br /> through a competitive grant process. Priorities will be correlated with local requests, local <br /> contributions, community needs and the need to serve Colorado watersheds not previously served. <br /> 4. Please provide a brief narrative description of the proposed study or demonstration project including <br /> purpose, need, and service area. (Attach scope of study, if available) <br /> Multi-objective stream and watershed restoration studies and projects designed to stabilize <br /> channels, reduce impacts due to historic mining or agricultural activities, improve watershed <br /> conditions to abate natural disasters, protect/enhance riparian and in-channel habitats, and <br /> improve recreation opportunities. Other project components may include reduction of water <br /> related risk to infrastructure, flood hazard reduction, and flood mitigation. There are degraded <br /> stream systems throughout the state in need of restoration designed to benefit non-consumptive <br /> and consumptive water uses. Projects are generally funded in all major river basins submitting <br /> applications to the Colorado Watershed Restoration Program. <br /> 2 <br />
