SUBJECT: Water Efficiency Grant Fund Recommendation for the Town of Erie
Recommendation:
The OWCDP staff recommends that Tom Browning,Assistant Director, approve a Water
Efficiency Grant to update an existing Water Efficiency Plan in the amount of$33,087, for the
Town of Erie.
Summary of Grant Application
The Office of Water Conservation&Drought Planning(OWCDP)received a Water Efficiency
Grant Fund application from the Town of Erie. Erie is requesting$33,087 to update an existing
water conservation plan that will comply with 37-60-126 C.R.S. Erie's current water
conservation plan was approved by CWCB in March 2008.
The Town of Erie is a covered entity located in the South Platte Basin where SWSI identified a
need of 25,500 to 137,000 acre feet of water per year to meet M&I demands by 2050. Erie's
population has doubled within the past decade and increasing development is anticipated over
the next ten years. Through implementation of an updated Plan, Erie estimates they can achieve
an average annual water savings of 5%.
The total cost of the project is $44,165. The City of Erie has pledged 25% matching funds in the
form of in-kind services ($8,603) and a cash contribution of$2,475. OWCDP staff has reviewed
and evaluated the grant application and has determined that the proposal meets or exceeds the
CWCB guidelines for reviewing grant proposals. Attached is the internal checklist used to
evaluate the application.
