Addendum to Biological Assessment
for the Proposed Long Hollow Reservoir
1.0 INTRODUCTION
This Addendum to the Biological Assessment (BA) for the proposed Long Hollow Reservoir
responds to requests made in an October 22, 2003 letter (Appendix A) from the U.S. Fish &
Wildlife Service (Service) to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE).
1.1 Requests by the Service
1. Provide an analysis that shows whether the water depletions for the proposed Long
Hollow Reservoir will impact the ability to meet the San Juan River flow
recommendations outlined in the San Juan River Basin Recovery Implementation
Program (SJBRIP).
2. Address how to avoid escapement of non-native fishes from the proposed reservoir into
designated critical habitat for Colorado pikeminnow and razorback sucker.
3. Clarify of the "Determination of Effects" for bald eagle and southwestern willow
flycatcher.
4. Clarify the language used for "Determination of Effects" for Coloraado pikeminnow and
razorback sucker.
1.2 Response to Service Requests
Each issue is addressed below under the corresponding number.
1. Will proposed average annual depletions of 1,602 acre feet impact the ability to meet the
San Juan River flow recommendations?
"Determination of Effects" for the Colorado pikeminnow and razorback sucker included in
Sections 11.3.1 and 11.3.2, respectively, of the September 2003 BA has been modified to address
991-077.080 Wright Water Engineers, Inc.
