•
1.-Th\Smith
®ot®chnfcai
ENGINEERING CONSULTANTS
Consistent with the"Advanced"method outlined by the Colorado Dam Safety Branch,cross-sections for
the hydraulic modeling of the critical cross-sections will be generated from the topographic mapping
provided by the cities, towns and counties impacted and digitized USGS maps. This elevation information
will be used in AutoCAD to develop ground elevations for cross sections along the affected path. We have
assumed the existing mapping will be sufficient to conduct this analysis. If additional topographic
surveys are required this will be considered additional work and has not been included in our proposal.
Using the compiled geometric data,Smith Geotechnical will integrate the physical cross sections with the
stream hydraulic characteristics. This will be utilized to produce an accurate representation of flows in
the channel using the HEC-RAS software program. The information from HEC-RAS will be exported back
into AutoCAD and Arc View for assistance in generation of the inundation map that meets the State
Criteria.
The final deliverable will be a letter report documenting our processes, methods, and assumptions and the
generated inundation maps. The inundation maps will include the extents of the dam breach flood wave,
cross sections at critical sections indicating horizontal and vertical flood extents, flood wave velocity, and
the flood wave arrival time. The mapping will begin at Hamilton reservoir(Rawhide Dam)and extend
downstream to a point where no potential for loss of life and no significant property damage is expected,
as indictated in the proposed scope of work these anticipated location is the along the South Plate East of
Greeley Colorado.
FINAL DELIVERABLES
Smith Geotechnical will prepare and submit separate copies of the final deliverables for the Rawhide
dam as follows:
• Letter report for inundation mapping analysis.
• Ten(10)hard copies of the inundation maps.
• Two(2) DVD's containing:
o Shapefiles of the inundation limits.
o PDF files of, Inundation maps, and Supporting spreadsheets.
O Hydraulic/Hydrologic models.
CONTRACT PROPOSAL
Smith Geotechnical is proposing a Lump Sum Contract for a total of$14,920. This total cost will include all
work described in the above sections. We have included a detailed spreadsheet which summarizes the
expected scope of work and the cost associated with each component.
We look forward to a favorable response to our proposal and look forward to the opportunity to work with you.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call either Mr. Clint Brown or Mr. Duane Smith at 970-490-
2620.
Sincerely,
Smith Geotechnical Engineering,Inc.
Duane Smith, P.E.,President
Rawhide Dam.
