conditions at the Fort Collins and other sugar plants and are conducting
research programs in an effort to reduce the effect of refinery wastes.
Nuisance conditions attributed to decomposing blood, fats, and
offal discharged from some of the slaughtering houses are common when
receiving streams are low. This situation is particularly bad in the
South Platte River immediately below Denver. Nuisance conditions origin-
ating from domestic wastes also have been noted at Cheyenne, Wyoming;
Boulder, Golden, and Greeley, Colorado. The situation at Cheyenne has
been remedied by the recent construction of a new sewage treatment plant.
