The cost of <br />iinplementing this alternative would be $237,000. <br />Burlin�ton Northern Railroad Siphon <br />The overall performance of the siphon appears to be functioning nominally. lininediately <br />downstream of the siphon some erosioi7 needs to be repaired. To accomplish this repair three <br />alternatives were evaluated as follows: <br />l. No Action <br />2. I�IStallation of soine erosion control ($8,000) <br />3. Remove and replace the entire stn�cture ($750,000) <br />Alternative l, No Action <br />This alternative was not selected because inaction would eventually result in the stnicture losing <br />serviceability. <br />Alternative 2_ Constn�ction of Modifications <br />This is the preferred alternative. This alternative would involve some excavation and placement of <br />some riprap to prevent further erosion. <br />The cost associated with this alternative would be $8,000. <br />Altenlative 3, Reinoval and Re�lacement of the Si�hon <br />This alternative would involve demolishing the siphon and rebuilding a new one. The cost of <br />iinplementing this alternative would be $750,000. <br />Tree Removal <br />Tlus project consists of the removal of cottonwood trees in the Canal banlcs and easeinent area. <br />These trees, having reached the end of their life expectances, now need to be removed before they <br />fall and damage large portions of the ditch bank or nearby structures.
