Emergency Loan Application and Feasibility Study UNION DITCH COMPANY
Schedule
Construction of the Project is expected to commence October 2013. Project completion is
estimated to occur by December 31, 2013. Add any pertinent schedule notes such as if the
schedule is `rushed' due to a need to divert winter reservoir rights or to prevent further damage.
Repairs have already been started due to contractual obligations to fill Lower Latham Reservoir.
Economic, Social, and Environmental Effects
List the anticipated economic,; social, and environmental effects of the proposed project. (eg. # of
lost irrigated acres, # of lost farms, degraded river channel conditions, loss of recreational
activities etc.)
If not repaired, there would be approximately 4,871 irrigated acres lost under Union Ditch,
consisting of about 60 farms, plus Union Ditch Company would be unable to fill Lower Latham
Reservoir as it is obligated to do under the current agreement with Lower Latham Reservoir
Company. Union Ditch is also used to deliver bypass water around the Latham Ditch dry -up
point, to deliver Section No. 3 Ditch (Godfrey Bottom Ditch) decree water to its ditch during low
river flows, and for augmentation.
Permits
List any permits that will be required or applicable exemptions: Specifically <provide the project
status in relation to the US Array Corps of Engineers permit requirements (agriculture
exemption, nationwide permit, individual permit).
An exemption letter from the Army Corps of Engineers has already been obtained for work to
repair and armor the stream banks in the immediate vicinity of the Union Ditch diversion
structure.
