Deliverables: Memo describing approach and results for the basinwide modeling effort. This memo
should describe data issues unique to the Yampa model and include calibration results. Command files
and data sets will be delivered.
Task 6—User's guide for the daily model approach
Purpose: Create a generic user's guide based on the approach selected in Task 3 for developing a daily
model from a monthly model, using the method selected in the Yampa basin.
Approach: This task will be undertaken only after written authorization from the State, based on
conclusions of Task 4. Write a document describing the steps, protocol, and tools used to create the daily
Yampa model.
Deliverables: A generic description of the steps required to develop a daily model from a monthly
model. It is expected to be 3 to 5 pages in length.
Task 7—Extended data set tasks
Purpose: The purpose of this task is to complete calibration and documentation of the extended
historical data set for the Yampa and Colorado River Basin Water Resources Planning Models, and to
apply the stochastically generated data set for the Yampa River Basin Model to a specific management
alternative.
Approach: This task will be undertaken only after separate written authorization from the State. The
Yampa and Colorado models will be calibrated using historical streamflow at key gages and historical
contents at key reservoirs. Phase IIIa documentation will be updated to reflect calibration changes, and a
new section on data extension will be provided. The monthly Yampa model will be executed under a
future scenario specified by the state, and comparisons made with a similar analysis using the historical
data set.
Deliverables: Final extended historical data sets for the Yampa and Colorado monthly models, and
documentation for the same; a technical memorandum describing the application of the stochastic data
set to a sample management problem.
Task 8—Management and coordination
Purpose: Allow for adequate time to maintain communication with the State and to manage the project.
Approach: Submit monthly progress reports and invoices to the State. Hold two progress meetings over
the course of Tasks 1, 2, 3, 4, and 7; hold two to four progress meetings over the course of Tasks 5 and
6.
Deliverables: Monthly progress notes and invoices, minutes from progress meetings.
