,IULESBURG IRRIGATION DISTRICT PROJECTS
Another group of projects that are associated with the Julesburg Irrigation District have
been approved for$ 10,000 of funding by the SPLRG. The funding includes the purchase
and repair of a mobile pump that can pump water from the District's canals to recharge
areas located near the canals. That pump will be operated this fall to lift water to areas
along and adjacent to the District's canal system for recharge into the alluvial aquifer. The
same pump may also be used in conjunction with several other projects within the lower
river. It is envisioned that the reregulation activities associated with the Julesburg
Irrigation District will produce 3,000 to 5,000 acre feet of water per year.
THRASHER/LIDDLE DITCH RECHARGE PROJECT
A third project that has been approved for$ 5,000 is in operation and is known as the
Thrasher recharge project that diverts water from the river into the Liddle Ditch to
recharge the aquifer from the ditch bottom and from a recharge area located at the end of
the ditch. Up to 2000 acre feet per year are expected to be recharged each year under this
project.
