OPERATOR INDEX
Listed in decreasing order of annual volume extracted.
Large operators are defined as extracting more than 1,000 cu yds.
per year. Small operators extract less than 1,000 cu yds. per
year. Total amount extracted is usually for the 1989 season
(variable in some cases by 100% depending on market conditions).
The number of employees is approximate and restricted to peat
operations alone. Sites operated, annual extraction, and acres
affected are based on one season and may change over time.
Several other operators have been rumored to be in
existence, however, these were unable to be verified and are
therefore included here only in that context.
LARGE OPERATORS
Hyponex, Inc., 3 Assembly Ct., Fountain, CO 80817.
Owner: Scotts - Hyponex, Inc., 14111 Scotts Lawn Rd.,
Marysville, OH 43041
Employees: 25
Sites operated: two to three in Teller County (TE4, 5, 6)
Annual extraction: 45,000 cu yds
Acres affected: 20
Universal Peat, Sand, and Gravel, Inc., P.O.
