As marginal deposits (which are thinner) are excavated, the <br />average area disturbed per unit volume of peat extracted is <br />expected to increase. Only when most or all of the excavated <br />deposits have been reclaimed will the total area disturbed begin <br />to diminish over time. Without a requirement for reclamation, <br />the total area disturbed by peat excavation will continue to <br />increase and may approach the total area excavated. Depending on <br />economic feasibility over the long term this could be very close <br />to the total area of known deposits. <br />28 0 <br />
