Emergency Loan Application and Feasibility Study Beeman Irrigating Ditch and Milling Co.
The proposed improvements will include an adjustable height dam on the river diversion dam
and small dam. Historically, these were fixed concrete or wooden weirs and remained in -place
year round to provide diversions. The adjustable weir will be lowered during the off - season or
when the water rights at the diversion are not in- priority, removing the barrier to sediment and
fish passage through this reach of the river. This improvement will also malice operation of the
diversion structure safer for the Company's employees and contractors, and will allow for more
responsive operation of the structure to accommodate future river conditions and administration.
Permits
The project is seeking an exemption from the US Army Corps of Engineers permitting
requirements based on predominately agricultural usage of the water diverted (greater than 50%
of the water diverted is for agricultural purpose). Beeman has submitted a letter to the Corps of
Engineers requesting concurrence with this exemption but had not been notified by the submittal
of this report.
There are no other known permits required to complete this worlic.
