Feasibility Study for the Plaza Project - Phase 2: McDonald Ditch Implementation Project
Section 7 - Selected Alternatives
The stakeholders narrowed the developed alternatives and crafted a desired implementation
plan for each of the project elements. The stakeholders developed the implementation plans
with the project goals and objectives for each element in mind.
Figure 9. Project Elements and Deliverables - Phase 2: McDonald Ditch implementation Project
7.1 Selected Alternatives for the Streambanks
The Stakeholders determined it was critical to improve the stability of streambanks and riparian
vegetation in the project area. Currently, the streambanks upstream of the diversion are held in
place by rocks and rubble. This material pushes the flow into the middle pier of the Sevenmile
Plaza Bridge. Removing the rubble and stabilizing and revegetating the banks will improve flow
and river function. Adjacent the McDD Diversion, the streambanks are highly eroding as the
current diversion pushes the flow directly into the banks. The diversion angle will be altered to
allow the flow to bend more gradually and the streambanks will be sloped, stabilized, and
revegetated. Below the diversion, the streambanks will be stabilized and fish habitat structures
will be installed.
17
