New project
X Rehabilitation or replacement of existing facility
Enlargement of existing facility
X Emergency Repair
Other (describe)
3. If the project is for rehabilitation of an existing reservoir, is the reservoir currently under a storage
restriction order from the State Engineer? n/a
4. Please provide a brief narrative description of the proposed project including purpose, need,
facilities, type of water uses to be served and service area. Attach separate sheet, if needed.
Description of Project
This project replaces the South Wellfield Raw Water Transmission Line, which is approximately
34,800' long, in order to prevent catastrophic failure of the line. It includes finalizing design and
permitting, bid process, removal and replacement of the existing line, project management and
administration.
Purpose and Need
The purpose of this project is to replace a water pipeline that is crucial to the water supply of the City of
Lamar. The degraded condition of the line was discovered during an energy audit of the water system.
The Lamar Water/Wastewater Department planned to "pig" the line in order to remove corrosion and
increase efficiency. A section of pipe was removed and inspected, and it became obvious that an
attempt to clean the line would likely result in major failure of the pipeline.
Facilities
• 34,800 LF of pipeline
• PS2 Tank
• Well 22
• Air Vent
• Well 27
•
PSI Tank
• Road Crossings
• Miscellaneous Connections at Existing Piping
Water Uses to be Served
• Residential
• Commercial
• City of Lamar — irrigation and recreation
Service Area
• The project serves the City of Lamar
6. Will the acquisition of additional water rights be necessary? NO
3
