e Petrocco Farms operations currently include farming approximately 2,600 acres in
stern Adams and Weld counties, approximately 30% of which is owned by the
:rocco Family Limited Partnership. The remaining 70% of land is leased, typically
ough one or two year short-term leases, by the Corporation. The list of crops produced
Petrocco Farms include cabbage, green beans, onions, spinach, turnip greens, mustard
:ens, collard greens, kale greens, peppers and winter squash. Farming operations
.end from the home offices south of Brighton, north along the U.S. Highway 85
ridor approximately 25 miles to an area east of Lucerne. See Appendix B — Petrocco
-ms Location Map, for a location of the properties currently farmed.
Sack rg_ound — As mentioned above Petrocco Farms has farming operations on
.pproximately 2,600 acres along the US 85 corridor between Brighton and Lucerne.
,heir estimate of water needed to produce their vegetable crops is 3 acre -feet per acre.
or their entire operation this translates to an average need of about 7,800 acre -feet per
,ear. To keep the current amount of land in production this demand must be satisfied in
hree ways: 1) water owned by the Partnership; 2) water associated with the leased farm
and (approx. 1,800 acres); and 3) water that can and must be leased annually on the
vater rental market. An overview of the annual water usage is estimated as follows:
Water Currently Owned by Petrocco Farms 3,000 AF
Water Available with Leased Farm Lands 3,500 AF
Rental Water 1,040 AF
New Water to be Purchased with CWCB Loan 260 AF
7,800 AF
posed Purchase — With the CWCB loan, the Partnership plans to acquire 53 shares of
Fulton Ditch, and 8 shares of New Cache La Poudre Irrigating Company (NCLPIC)
ig with 6 shares of Cache La Poudre Reservoir Company (CLPRC). The Fulton
;h water will be used on 3 leased farms in the Brighton area, and the New Cache
er will be used on 2 farms owned in the Lucerne area. These "Project Farms" were
eted for additional water by Petrocco farms because they were deemed to be the most
- ..L..._.a. e1
)n Ditch - The Fulton Ditch diverts water from the South Platte River approximately
miles below the confluence of the South Platte River and Clear Creek, and serves
aximately 10,000 acres of land northeast of Denver. Discussions with Fulton Ditch
;sentatives, and reviewing water records, indicates that their average historical
gate delivery has been 2.9 acre feet /share, over the past 40 years.
