In your letter to Alex Davis, dated April 23, 2009, you indicated that you are working
wi the Animas La Plata Water Conservancy District and the Water and Power Authority to
f�t ac ir e the La Plata Water Conservancy District's option to purchase 700 acre -feet from the
W r and Power Authority, conditional upon securing funding. Your request to purchase
ad ional water from the State is based on projections that the La Plata West Water Authority's
fluti Te need will exceed the 700 acre -feet planned purchase from the La Plata Water Conservancy
Dis rict. Leo Eisel, with Brown and Caldwell, or other members of my staff will be contacting
you to discuss the needs of the La Plata West Water Authority, purchase and funding options,
rim g, and other items pertinent to the successful preservation of the State's ALP water
It`s our intention to have Phase I of the Study completed by January 22, 2010. Based on
the reliminary findings of the Study and from input received from surrounding water users, a
fina phase will be developed that will assist the State in determining its ultimate level of
