A -LP Water Animas -La Plata Water Marketing Supply and Demand Study Section 5 <br />UnitediStates Department of Agriculture (USDA) <br />United tates Department of Agriculture, Rural Development provides utilities in rural areas (towns or <br />cities o 10,000 or less) with grants or loans through "Water and Environmental Programs" (WEP). The <br />grants, oans, and loan guarantees can be used for drinking water, sanitary sewer, solid waste and storm <br />drainag a facilities. Programs include Loans and Grants for Rural Communities, Guaranteed Loans, <br />Emerg ;ojects. cy Community Water Assistance Grants, Pre - development Planning Grants, and Loans for Very <br />Small More information about these programs is available on the USDA website at <br />Unitectl States Bureau of Reclamation Rural Water Program <br />This is new program initiated in 2010 which provides grants for planning and overseeing construction <br />of rural water systems to towns with less than 50,000 in population. Providing funding for construction <br />would i equire Congressional authorization and federal appropriations. Currently this program has not <br />been fL nded. <br />5.2.1 JProposed Marketing Program <br />The inf rmation and data above will be used to develop a marketing brochure and web page to promote <br />the us of the State's A -LP Project water. The marketing brochure and web page will be developed by <br />the C B and distributed to city and county planning departments, the Southwestern Conservation <br />Distric Water Conservancy Districts, and a list of appropriate contractors and businesses. <br />This marketing brochure and web page would also be useful in the event that all or a portion of the <br />State' A -LP Project water reverts to the Tribes (see Section 5.1 herein). <br />5-4 <br />FINAL ALI Report _1_13_11_LL.Dou <br />
