•
WARNING
0
Water quality samples collected by BLM personnel in the Montrose District,
prior to 1983, were analyzed by the United States Geological Survey National
Water Quality Lab in Arvada, Co. It has been brought to our attention that
waters analyzed by this lab, during the late 1970's and early 1980's, may
experience elevated levels of lead, cadmium and chromium. Apparently, sealant
used on ampules of acid used to fix water samples contained these constituents
and resulted in sample contamination. Therefore, the accuracy of lead, cadmium
and chromium concentrations in water samples analyzed prior to 1983 are in
question and should not be used to make determinations that attempt to reflect
actual water quality conditions.
BLM Montrose District Hydrologist
