PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 8,2012,5:30 P.M.
CONCERNING
A PROPOSED DURANGO COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AMENDMENT
FOR THE LAKE NIGHTHORSE AREA
As a property owner within 300 feet of the area under consideration, you are invited to
attend a Public Information Meeting to be held in Council Chambers at Durango's
City Hall, 949 E. 2 °d Avenue, on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at 5:30 PM.
The purpose of this meeting is to provide interested citizens information concerning a
proposed amendment to Durango's adopted Comprehensive Plan to expand the
City of Durango's planning boundary to include the Lake Nighthorse area. This
change to the boundary of the Comprehensive Plan, if approved by the City Council,
would allow the City to consider annexation of the Lake Nighthorse area in order for
the City to provide municipal services in this area, primarily recreation management
and police services.
The Durango City Charter requires any land to be annexed to be in compliance with the
Durango Comprehensive Plan. This proposed Plan Amendment would place the Lake
Nighthorse area within the City's planning boundary to allow for its annexation. If the
City Council approves the Plan Amendment, the City would initiate a public hearing
process to annex the property. All property owners being notified of this Plan
Amendment meeting will be notified of all annexation hearings as well.
A copy of the proposed amendment is on file (Project File #12 -181) and may be reviewed
during normal business hours at the City Planning Office, 1235 Camino Del Rio,
