Total length measurements of the 0 -plus white suckers
ranged from 40 to 60 mm. Each replicate was injected into the discharge pipe upstream of the
sleeve valve to test the effectiveness to eliminate 0 -plus white sucker survival at a pressure of
approximately 27 psi. The sleeve valve and butterfly valve were;manually opened and closed for
each trial.
For trial 1, one 53 mm white sucker was found alive in the "entrainment net but was injured and
died approximately 72 hrs after sleeve valve passage.
For trial 2, two white suckers (48 and 55 mm) vm, found alive in the entrainment net
immediately after sleeve valve passage. The S,rnm white sucker died approximately 48 hrs
after sleeve valve passage however; the 48 mm Wbite sucker survived beyond .hrs and had no
apparent injuries.
-rs were fturd alive immediately after sleeve valve
entrainment;riets and 3 collected in the spillway. Five
white sucker died after 24 hrs (47, 49, 50, 59 and 60 mm), one died at 48 hrs (56 mm), three died
at 96 hrs (49, 54, and 55 mm) and two survived past 96 hrs (51 and 57 mm).
For trial 7, a total of six white suckers were found alive immediately after sleeve valve passage
where 3 were collected in the entrainment nets and 3 collected in the spillway. Two white sucker
died after 24 hrs (53 and 55 mm) and four survived past 96 hrs (49, 50, 56 and 58 mm).
Page 28
