Draft Tareet Species Suitable Habitat.
Although only T &E species are focused on in this endeavor, keeping the parts, or enough of the
parts of an ecosystem intact, so that there is enough of the form and function of the river intact to
be a healthy riverine ecosystem will benefit T & E species as well as all other species of this
system.
Because it is more specific, it is appropriate to document what researchers have found out about
the habitat needs of the target species. By adding the author citations, it will be easier to add new
information for comparison purposes over time.
Page 2- Third paragraph. Denman is used as being on Fig 3, yet it is not shown on the map.
Page 4- Last paragraph states that wet meadows are ..... within close proximity to the channels of
the Platte River. Would it be more appropriate to say that wet meadows are .... in and adjacent to
the channels of the PR. The first definition sort of implies that or gives the impression that they
are outside the river channels, when in fact Morman Island and other wet meadows are between
the various channels of the Platte.
Page 6- Fifth paragraph. The 178 sand pits referred to should have the percentage associated with
it. It would then read 178 (70 %)..
Page 8- What state is the Atchafalaya River in?
Page 9- Third paragraph, 6`h line. The years 1998 to 1991 should be reversed.
Overall, the target species suitable habitat document is well done. I did not check to ensure that
the cited authors in the text are actually in the Literature Cited section, but would recommend
that someone thoroughly check them.
c: Whitmore, S.
Fritz, M
