We surveyed 15 sandpits and 12 riverine sites with managed or constructed islands during the <br />2008 sandpit - island surveys. We surveyed an additional riverine site, Mormon Islands, during <br />sandpit - island surveys in 2009. We observed 30 interior least tern and 11 piping plover nests <br />located on sandpits during sandpit- island surveys in 2008 and 24 interior least tern and 9 piping <br />plover nests located on sandpits during these surveys in 2009. We observed the most interior <br />least terns during July, 2008 and 2009 sandpit - island surveys; 76, 9, and 10 interior least tern <br />adults, chicks, and fledglings, respectively, in 2008 and 51, 12, and 12 interior least tern adults, <br />chicks, and fledglings, respectively, in 2009 (Table 2). We also observed the most piping plovers <br />during July, 2008 and 2009 sandpit - island surveys; 18 and 8 piping plover adults and chicks, <br />respectively, in 2008 and 14, 6, and 10 piping plover adults, chicks, and fledglings, respectively, <br />in 2009 (Table 2). <br />(This space will be filled in when information on management actions performed at each site during 2008 and <br />2009 is included in previous section.) <br />PRRIP 2008 -2009 Tern /Plover Report Page 12 of 42 <br />
