Agenda Item _, Native Species Conservation Trust Fund Recommendations
January 27 -28, 2009 Board Meeting
through the states financing of the Elkhead Reservoir enlargement. Approximately $_ of
appropriated funds remains in the SCTF capital account and that is earmarked for the Platte River
Program. We have a foreseeable need for approximately $1.883 million over the next 2 or 3 years to
complete Colorado's remaining cost share obligations under the UCRIP and SJRIP. In addition, we
anticipate a need for at least $24 million to complete the 1St increment of the CA recovery program
and that need could increase depending on the final program that is agreed upon and the outcome of
the ongoing cost share discussions. The CDOW would like to see $3.5 million left in the SCTF
O &M account to support an on going species conservation program of $400,000.
The attached spreadsheets provide a summary of selected SCTF financial information. There
is no detailed information on total long -term projected State funding needs from the SCTF.
However, the spreadsheets do show that the existing SCTF balance is inadequate and that additional
funding must be provided this year.
Attachments
Flood Protection • Water Project Planning and Financing • Stream and Lake Protection
Water Supply Protection • Conservation Planning
