IN ROOM 1324 LHOB <br />The Subcommittee on Water and Power will hold a legislative hearing at 2 p.m. on <br />Thursday, April 26, 2007 in room 1324 of the Longworth House Office Building. H.R. 1462 <br />(Mark Udall, D -CO), Platte River Recovery Implementation Program and Pathfinder <br />Modification Authorization Act, is the only legislation under consideration. <br />Bill Summary <br />H.R. 1462 was introduced by Congressman Mark Udall and original cosponsors Reps. <br />John Salazar, Adrian Smith, Jeff Fortenberry, and Lee Terry on March 9`h, 2007. <br />Representatives Diana DeGette, Barbara Cubin and Ed Perlmutter are additional cosponsors to <br />the legislation <br />The purpose of H.R. 1462 is to authorize the Platte Recovery Implementation Program <br />and modifications to Pathfinder Dam. Since 1997, the States of Nebraska, Colorado, Wyoming <br />have worked with water users, conservation groups and the Interior Department to develop ways <br />to allow continued water use and development along the Platte River to comply with the <br />Endangered Species Act. <br />In late 2006 the three States and the Interior Department signed the final cooperative <br />agreement for a basin -wide Recovery Program to benefit three endangered species (interior least <br />
