The workshops are
designed to build upon
previous workshops from
the fall of 2000 titled, "Flood
Hazard Mitigation 101." The
workshop focus on
hands -on exercises for
developing, adopting and
implementing local flood
hazard mitigation plans.
As part of the 2000
Disaster Mitigation Act,
FEMA will be requiring local
governments to adopt
local flood hazard
mitigation plans as a
condition for receiving
federal assistance during
presidential disaster
declarations. Floodprone
communities should be
proactive.
If you want to
attend these workshops,
please contact Mark
Matulik at (303) 866 -4805.
Flood Response Program J
The CWCB has
implemented a Flood
Response Program. Local
governments experiencing
flood events can contact
the CWCB's Flood Protection
Section to activate elements
of the program.
In FY -01 the "Projects
Bill" authorized an annual
flood response program at
$150,000. The Program
provides: (1) flood outlooks
and preparation information
(2) aerial photography, (3)
documentation, (4)
floodplain mapping and (5)
mitigation planning.
The program is
designed for quick response
and the CWCB can retain
contractors to assist
communities for up to two
years. For more information
on the flood response
program call Tom Browning
at (303) 866 -4804.
8 CONSFR
 • a
a
a
J Off'

1931
COLORAI X )
D @I ?NiTiAgBNT OF
NATURAL
RESO R _E_
