I
.e. Fountain Creek Watershed
2004 Accomplishments
1. Implemented recommendations
contained in the Fountain Creek
Watershed Plan.
• Calculated current and future
levels of imperviousness for
each of the 27 subwatersheds
located in the Fountain Creek
Watershed using the USGS 12
digit Hydrologic Unit Code
(HUC) system.
• Expanded the existing GIS
database.
2. Continued the Army Corps of
Engineers (ALOE) Watershed
Study which was initiated in
April 2003 and is expected to
be completed by 2007. The
Study will result in the further
evaluation of projects under other
ACOE Authority Programs to
address flood control, erosion,
sedimentation and environmental
restoration. The ACOE Study is
a three million dollar project and
the total cost is being split by
the Federal government (50 %)
and State /Local governments
(50 %). Some of the tasks that
were completed include:
• Developed written reports for
threatened and endangered
species, water quality,
migratory corridors, soils
and wildlife.
• Conducted site visits and field
investigations.
• Compiled digital mapping
of the watershed that will be
used for modeling.
3. The Fountain Creek Watershed
website was updated; public
meetings and monthly committee
meetings were held; presentations
were made to schools and other
groups; and an annual newsletter
was distributed to over 700
stakeholders.
Objectives for 2005
0
0
T
0
0
U
M
o_
w
0
U)
Q)
0
0
0
a
Continue the Army Corps of
Engineers Watershed Study. Other
significant activities will include:
• Preparation of reports and field
work for wetlands and native &
non- native fish studies.
• Identify potential environmental
restoration projects.
2. Continue the public outreach
and education effort: annual
newsletters; public speaking
presentations; web page updates;
public meetings; and monthly
committee meetings.
3.
