It attempts
to:
(1) Clarify the meaning of various instream flow recommendation terms
( "peak flows ", "Program target flows ", etc.);
(2) Clarify how these flow recommendations have been (and will continue to
be) used in the context of various Program - relate 'activities; and
(3) Provide some historical context to the origin and use of these terms.
Ideally and hopefully there is nothing "new" here. Our intent is to
summarize what has already been discussed and agreed to by Program
participants. The only "new" part should be doing so in a way that helps
clarify the issues. So we're interested in hearing from others as to
whether this document gets us part or most of the way there.
Two quick comments on the attached files:
'(1) Some of the special formatting incorporated into this WordPerfect
document (such as text boxes) seem a little touchy so if the printed
version is slightly awry, it may be the result of printer reformatting.
(In case of confusion, we can always fax the original);
(2) "Attachment D" has not (yet) been incorporated into the WordPerfect
document itself, so for the time being I am including it as a separate
scanned .jpg file (AttachmentD.jpg).
I guess Mark Butler and I will be the point persons for feedback on this
draft.
Thanks,
Don Anderson
(See attached file: TargetFlowsClarifyJune26.wpd) (See attached file:
AttachmentD.jpg)
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Don Anderson
Hydrologist
U.S. Fish & Wildlife Region 6 Water Resources
Lakewood, Colorado
(303)236 -5322 x231
http: / /www.r6.fws.gov /wtr
--------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - --
CC: <mabutler @prs.usbr.gov >, <cabrown @prs.usbr.gov >,
<Bob_McCue @fws.gov >, <CDOUGHERTY @prs.usbr.gov>
