Garfield Avenue <br />Loveland, Colorado 80537 -5548 <br />Dear Mr. Pitts: <br />During the period May 17 -20, 1994, the Fish and Wildlife Service (Service), <br />with assistance from the National Biological Survey (Survey), will conduct a <br />workshop on pulse flow requirements for the Platte River ecosystem. The goal <br />of the workshop is to Provide information for the Service to use in preparing <br />a recommendation on pulse flows. As an active participant in the Management <br />Alternatives Workgroup of the Platte River Management Joint Study, you are <br />invited to attend the May 17 & 18 portion of this workshop as an observer. <br />This pulse flow workshop will be held at the Survey's National Ecology <br />Research Center in Ft. Collins, and will be a continuation of the workshop on <br />Platte River instream flow targets conducted by the Service during March 8 -10, <br />1994. <br />The Service has identified biologists and hydrologists with specific Platte <br />River - related experience and knowledge who have been invited to present and <br />discuss pertinent information during May 17 & 18. For reasons of <br />effectiveness of the workshop and limited space, attendance will be by invited <br />individuals and Service and Survey personnel. <br />During May 19 & 20, Service personnel, with assistance from Survey personnel <br />will formulate pulse flow recommendations for the Platte River based on <br />information presented and discussed on May 17 & 18 and on other information <br />available to the Service. These recommendations subsequently will be <br />considered for adoption by the Service's Regional Director following his <br />review. The Regional Director may choose to accept, reject, or refine the <br />recommendations of Service personnel. <br />Attached is an agenda for the workshop.
