A complete hydraulic evaluation of the outlet works shall be performed under
this subtask. The analysis will be based on the visual inspection and review
of video tapes in Task 2 and will note any adverse hydraulic characteristics
within the intake, conduit, and discharge structure. The capacity and
operating requirements of the outlet works shall be examined and evaluated. A
discharge rating curve shall be prepared to reflect existing conditions.
Release and drawdown criteria shall be developed and checked. The results of
these evaluations shall be the basis for formulating alternative solutions for
comparison. The structural and general operation condition of the gates and
conduit shall be considered in the overall determination of the rehabilitation
requirements.
The elements of this task shall be closely coordinated with the activities in
Subtask 7.2, relating to geotechnical analysis and overall stability.
7.4 Miscellaneous Design Considerf'
7.4.1 Drainage
Present or anticipated drainage pro ms shall be evaluated and discussed with
the CWCB and the City. A project drainage plan will be developed if necessary.
7.4.2 Sedimentation
A sedimentation analysis shall be performed as part of the hydrologic work.
Estimated rates of sediment deposition shall be calculated. Sediment storage
requirements shall be determined and the effect on the reservoir outlet
assessed. The basic data and method used in sediment computations shall be
included.
7.4.3 Right -of -Way
The study shall include an evaluation of right -of -way requirements for the
project and the results shall be presented in the final report.
- 12 -
