Feasibility of the Rehabilitation <br />of the <br />Fort Morgan Reservoir & Irrigation Company Diversion Structure <br />Project Sponsor <br />Fort Morgan Reservoir and Irrigation Company (FMRIC) is a <br />Colorado mutual ditch company and a non - profit corporation. <br />FMRIC was formed in late 1800's to construct and operate the <br />FMRIC irrigation canal for the benefit of the shareholders. FMRIC <br />currently has 117 shareholders with 2844 shares of stock. The <br />Company can divert 323 cubic feet of water per second of time <br />from the South Platte River, at a headgate located about 13 miles <br />northwest of Fort Morgan, Colorado. FMRIC also receives water <br />from Jackson Lake Reservoir which is owned and operated by the <br />Jackson Lake Reservoir and Irrigation Company. FMRIC owns 68% of <br />all Jackson Lake shares. Water from Jackson Lake is delivered <br />immediately upstream of the FMRIC diversion approximately 3.5 <br />miles. <br />Based on diversion information provided by <br />had an average annual diversion of 74,890 <br />diverted into the FMRIC canal. <br />Project Service Area <br />the Company, FMRIC has <br />acre feet for all water <br />The service area is located in Morgan County, from about 13 miles <br />northwest of Fort Morgan to about 10 miles east of Fort Morgan on <br />the south side of the South Platte River. FMRIC water is used to <br />irrigate approximately 15,000 acres. The water is typically used <br />to irrigate corn, alfalfa, beans, and sugar beets. <br />Jackson Lake is located on the north side of the South Platte <br />River and 4 miles northwest if the FMRIC diversion.
