Existing Water Right Information
Staff has analyzed the water rights tabulation and contacted the Division Engineer Office (DEO)
to identify any potential water availability problems. There are no decreed surface diversions
within this reach of stream. Staff has determined that water is available for appropriation on the
Animas River, between the confluence with Minnie Gulch and the confluence with Cunningham
Creek, to preserve the natural environment to a reasonable degree without limiting or foreclosing
the exercise of valid existing water rights.
CWCB Staffs Instream Flow Recommendation
Staff recommends the Board form its intent to appropriate on the following stream reach:
Segment: Confluence with Minnie Gulch to Confluence with Cunningham Creek
Upper Terminus: CONFLUENCE WITH MINNIE GULCH
(Latitude 37° 51'44.73"N) (Longitude 107'34'22.68"W)
UTM North: 4193671.4 UTM East: 273660.18
SE SW S30 T42N R6W NMPM
1400' East of the West Section Line; 510' North of the South Section Line
Lower Terminus: CONFLUENCE WITH CUNNINGHAM CREEK
(Latitude 37° 50' 11.15 "N) (Longitude 107'35' 51.91 "W)
UTM North: 4190846.86 UTM East: 271398.94
NE SE S2 T4 IN R7W NMPM
475' West of the East Section Line; 1600' North of the South Section Line
Watershed: Animas (HUC #: 14080104)
Counties: San Juan
Length: 2.58 miles
USGS Quad(s): Howardsville
Flow Recommendation: 12.2 cfs (May 1 — October 31)
9.1 cfs (November 1 — April 30)
-7-
