Mayor of Aurora defends
purchase of Rocky Ford water

The Pueblo Chieftain
LAMAR - Aurora mayor Paul Tauer said Friday
that his city would rather pay for the negative
effects of its water purchases in the Arkansas
Valley than pay lawyers to fight for the water in
court.
Tauer spoke at this year's Arkansas River Basin
Water Forum, his third visit to the valley in the
last several months.
Tauer was clearly piqued at the recent decision by
the Southeastern Colorado Water Conservancy
District to fight his city's ability to get yearly
water storage in Lake Pueblo. Aurora has
